There are seemingly endless brands and types of organic herbal supplements that line the shelves of health food stores and natural healthcare practices. Sometimes, the choices can seem endless and overwhelming. At Rebel Herbs we try to make these choices easier for you. Besides distributing our products only through qualified healthcare professionals, we have put together some ways for you to quickly determine the best, most-informed decision.
When looking at two products offering the same ingredients in the same form, there are three things to keep in mind: price, quantity, and quality.
-Rebel Herbs Ashwagandha Capsules- -Brand B Ashwagandha Capsules-
On the left is Rebel Herb's organic ashwagandha single herb capsule, retail priced at $36.99 for 60 capsules and on the right is Brand B's ashwagandha capsule, at $24.99 for 60 capsules.
Quantity: On the back of the boxes are the supplement facts panels which show the amount of each herb (in milligrams) that you receive with each capsule and the number of capsules in each bottle. Some companies will use less herb per capsule so they can get the price lower for the consumer. For example, a single Rebel Herbs’ ashwagandha single herb capsule contains 485 mg of ashwagandha but Brand B's organic ashwagandha single herb capsules only contains 350 mg per capsule. So if you divide the price by the number of milligrams you can see that Rebel Herbs charges 7.6 cents per milligram of ashwagandha extract, while Brand B charges 7.1 cents per milligram of ashwagandha. That means Rebel Herbs cost one half cent more per milligram than Brand B.
Quality: Some brands will use nonorganic extract or non extracted whole herb powder in combination with organic herbs and herbal extracts. Again, this helps the company keep a lower price point, but doesn’t actually add any value. Rebel Herbs’ encapsulated ashwagandha contains 100% certified organic material, as indicated on the label. Meanwhile, only about half of the material in Brand B's capsules are certified organic (183 mg are certified organic and 167 mg are ecologically harvested).
So by paying only 7% more per milligram you get 100% certified organic ashwagandha extract from Rebel Herbs. Don’t be fooled by a cheaper price, always look at the total quantity and the quality attributes of a product before deciding on what is a better value. In other words, compare apples to apples before making your decision. Talk to your healthcare professional for advice and know that even a free product is not worth the price if it doesn’t work.
